Obituary

SUNNY VIEW – David Lawson Miller, 80, of Sunny View, peacefully went home to be with the Lord, Saturday afternoon, May 23, 2026, at his home with his wife by his side.

He was the son of the late Thomas Miller and Maude Peonola Hudgins Miller. David was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during Vietnam. Following his service to his country, David worked for Bunny Bread, Peelers Milk and Freeman Gas as a route salesman. He was a farmer at heart, and it was his lifelong career. David was a member of Big Level Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Brian Miller and his granddaughter, Ellis Miller; one brother, Ben Miller; one sister, Sybil Yates.

Surviving is his loving wife of 58 years, Anita Lynch Miller; one daughter, Karen M. Jones (David) of Newport News, Virginia.

The family will receive friends Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. at Big Level Baptist Church with his funeral service to follow at 4:00 p.m. Thursday at the church with Dr. Chris Osborn and Reverend Sean McKaig officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Military honors will be conducted by the Polk County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Big Level Baptist Church, Post Office Box 457, Mill Spring, North Carolina 28756.
