Cynthia York Barnett, 89, passed away on Monday, December 13, 2021 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.Cynthia was the daughter of Col. And Mrs. Brower Vance York.  She lived in Laurel, MD before moving to Athens, GA. She attended the University of Maryland and the University of Georgia.  Cynthia was employed by the athletic department at the University of Georgia for over 20 years.  She was a member of the Tryon Swim Club and a member of Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross in Tryon, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Barnett; brother, Brower V. York and sisters, Mary Diana York and Rebecca Blackburn.She is survived by two sons, Donald C. Barnett and Michael W Y Barnett; a sister, Sylvia Y. York; a brother-in-law, Charles Max Blackburn; nieces and nephews, Larry Douglas Barnett, Thresa Lynn Barnett Tench, Dana B. Quinn, Keith Blackburn, Tom Christopherson, and Carol Christopherson and a cousin, Patti A. Smith.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 17, 2021 at Holy Cross Episcopal Church, 150 Melrose Ave, Tryon, NC 28782.
