Obituary

Coram Daniel "C.D." Johnson, Jr., 82, of Howard Gap Rd., Saluda, NC died peacefully at his home with his wife of 59 years by his side, Friday evening, June 20, 2008. A loving husband, father and grandfather who was adored by all those who knew and loved him. Mr. Johnson, a Baptist minister of 52 years loved his Lord. The desire of his ministry was to see his family, friends and world know the salvation and saving grace he knew. A native of Saluda, NC, he was the son of the late Coram Daniel, Sr. and Sara Bruce Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of Ingleside Baptist Church, Landrum, SC. Surviving is his wife, Willie Bradley Johnson; four daughters, Linda Johnson Dukes (Michael) of Saluda, NC, Peggy Johnson Landers (Frank) of Hendersonville, NC, Robin Johnson Singleton (Doug) of Indiana and Evona Johnson Kilpatrick (Van) of Hendersonville, NC; one son, Jonathan Daniel Johnson (Becky) of Tuxedo, NC; two sisters, Virginia Long of Alabama and Hazel Dunham of Florida; one brother, Dwane Johnson of Saluda, NC. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren, Joshua and Jeremy Dukes, Kimberly, Kelly, Kyle and Kristen Landers, Nichole Singleton, Seth and Keith Kilpatrick, Austin, Olivia and Caroline Johnson; two great grandchildren, Brian and Colten Maxwell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Daward Johnson and a grandson, Jeff Singleton. A funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 23, 2008 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC with Rev. Everette Wallace, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Saluda City Cemetery, Saluda, NC. The family will receive friends prior to the service Monday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel. At other times, the family will be at the home. Memorial may be made to the American Heart Association National Center, 7272 Greenville, Ave., Dallas, TX 75231
