MILL SPRING, NC - Clarence "Square" Edward McGuinn, 74, of Mill Spring, NC died Friday, December 21, 2007 at his home. Born in Polk County, NC, he was the son of the late Willie B. and Gartha Bradley McGuinn and husband of the late Patricia Shehan McGuinn who died in 2001. Mr. McGuinn was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a past employee of Bigelow Sanford in Landrum, SC and later a farmer and a sawmill operator. Mr. McGuinn was a member of Coopers Gap Baptist Church, where he had served as a Deacon in Mill Spring, NC. Surviving are one son, Gary McGuinn of Mill Spring, NC; one daughter, Karon Edwards of Mill Spring, NC; two brothers, Marvin McGuinn of Hendersonville, NC and Marion McGuinn of St. Louis, MO; six sisters, Margie Bailey of Rutherfordton, NC, Marie Earwood of Fairview, NC, Betty Coston of Hendersonville, NC, Naomi Pressley of Asheville, NC, Ruby Scott of Fairview, NC and Ramona Turner of Edneyville, NC. Also surviving is one grandson, Jordan Edwards. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 23, 2007 in the Coopers Gap Baptist Church, Mill Spring, NC with Rev. Warren Elliott and Dr. Doug McGuinn officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites by the Polk County Memorial Burial Squad. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday evening in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC. Mr. McGuinn will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. At other times, the family will be at the home of his daughter, Karon Edwards, 4333 Hwy. #9 North, Mill Spring, NC.
