LANDRUM, SC - Charles W. Talbot, of 202 Blockhouse Road, Landrum, SC, passed away on Monday, October 29, 2007 at the age of 78. He is deeply mourned by his wife, Christa; his son Lee and wife Shauna of Millersville, MD; and his grandchildren, Kathryn, Jennifer, Charles Spencer and Olivia. His is also survived by extended family in Dayton, OH. Charles W. was born in Auburn, NY on July 28, 1929, as the youngest son of Ethel and William Talbot. He went to school in Moravia, NY where he excelled in basketball. After high school he enlisted in the Armed Forces and served three years in Germany during the Korean War. He returned to Moravia, NY with his wife and infant son after his discharge from the Army. He was a savvy business man. He first co-owned and operated a machine shop, C& C Manufacturing, with friend Charles Phoenix which later became Ship N Shore Enterprises. Charles W. subsequently purchased the Owasco Marina in Cayuga County, NY which he solely owned and operated until his retirement in 1989. He and his wife then moved to Landrum, SC. In nearby Campobello, Charles W. opened a "hobby shop" where he proudly made high quality outdoor furniture and enjoyed his "retirement" until his last days. According to Charles' wishes his body has been cremated. A short Memorial Service will be held at McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon, NC on Friday, November 2, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. Please, no flowers. Friends and neighbors are also welcome for a small gathering at our home following the memorial service.
