Columbus, N.C. - Catherine Walker Feagan, 88, of Weaver Mill Road, Columbus, NC died Friday, March 14, 2008 in St. Luke's Hospital, Columbus, NC. Born in Polk County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Nesbit G. and Eva Boone Walker. She was the widow of Charlie Feagan who died in 2007. Mrs. Feagan was a graduate of Western Carolina Teachers College and retired from Polk County Schools after 30 plus years of teaching. She was active in the Polk County Historical Association, the Democrat Women's Club and served on the planning board of Stearns Park. Catherine was a member of Columbus Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, involved in WMU and served in many other capacities. Surviving are: two sons, Charles Patrick Feagan (Mary) and Phillip Ray Feagan (Joan) both of Columbus, NC; Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, Michael R. Feagan, C. Mark Feagan, Melissa Feagan, Charles W. Feagan, Anna E. Feagan, Phillip H. Feagan and Alice C. Feagan and five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Gary M. Feagan who died in 2001. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2008 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, NC. The family will receive friends prior to the service Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Gary M. Feagan Scholarship Fund at Columbus Baptist Church, P.O. Box 485, Columbus, NC 28722 or the Polk County Democratic Women's Club, P.O. Box 602, Columbus, NC 28722. At other times, the family will be at the home of a son, Phillip & Joan Feagan, 510 Skyuka Rd., Columbus, NC.
