TRYON, NC - Carroll Robert "Pig" Barnette, 67, of Tryon, NC passed away Thursday evening, July 26, 2012 at his home.Born in Tryon, NC, he was the son of the late Beaufort Lee and Margaret Hicks Barnette. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during Vietnam. Mr. Barnette retired from Alltel/Windstream after 30 years of service. He was a former member of the Polk County Jaycees, volunteered for Polk County Little League for 6 years and was a youth football coach for 15 years. Mr. Barnette was an avid golfer and past member of the Tryon Country Club. He was a member of Tryon First Baptist Church. Surviving is his daughter, Jennifer McCraw (Darrell) of Mill Spring, NC; longtime companion, Gloria Walker of Landrum, SC; adopted daughter, Kimberly Arthur of Holly Spring, SC; two brothers, Jerry Barnette (Donna) of Tryon, NC and Richard Barnette of North Charleston, SC; eight grandchildren, Allison, Camron, Benny Mac, Bryson, Dylan, Kaitlyn, Derek and Luke.A celebration of life will be held August 18, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. until at the Harmon Field Cabin, Tryon, NC.Memorials may be made to Charles George V.A.
