MILL SPRING, NC - Carolyn Jeanette Smith, 68, of Powell Rd., Mill Spring, NC died Sunday evening, September 14, 2008 in St. Luke's Hospital in Columbus, NC. Born in Transylvania County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Nellie Allison Sienseng. Mrs. Smith was a member of Lynn First Baptist Church in Lynn, NC. Surviving is her husband, Jackson Smith; two sons, Jeffrey Smith of Mill Spring, NC and Kevin Smith of Rutherfordton, NC; two daughters, Pamela Edwards of Columbia, SC and Beth Lucas (Ethan) of Goode, VA; 6 grandchildren, Jill Greene, Hannah and Caleb Edwards, Brock, Cassidy and Kendall Lucas; 2 great grandchildren, Brandt Greene and Journey Blounts. Also surviving are two brothers, Richard and Robert Sensing and two sisters, Becky Rampey and Marcia Jevedon. A funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 18, 2008 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC with Rev. Jimmy Owens officiating. Burial will held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in Beaver Dam Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, Candler, NC. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
