TRYON, NC - Carolyn Rose Campbell Durham, 95, was born November 7, 1913, and died June 19, 2009, at White Oak Manor in Tryon, NC. She spent many years as a resident of the Lake Lanier community. Mrs. Durham was the daughter of the late Eddie Boring and Nancy Elisabeth Campbell and was one of thirteen children and was the last of her Campbell family of fifteen. She was the secretary, treasurer and founding member of Rock Springs Baptist Church on Dug Hill Road. She and her husband, the late "Mack" Durham were original residents of Lake Lanier and lived at the Piedmont Boy Scout Camp for over 50 years. Also, she was a nurse, working in the Tryon area for many years. Mrs. Durham is survived by two sons and their spouses, Dwight and Gay Durham and Larry and Wanda Durham, who also reside in the Lake Lanier area. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Holiday, Mack and Carolyn Durham, Scott Braddock, Rick Lowe, Tonya Durham, Angel Durham as well as seven great grandchildren. A funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 21, 2009 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC, with Rev. Randy Smith officiating. Interment will be in Tryon City Cemetery, Tryon, NC. The family will receive friends prior to the service Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
