Calvin Garry Thompson, 71, of Lynn, NC passed away Friday afternoon, November 18, 2016 at Regency Hospital of Greenville.A native of Polk County, he was the son of the late Calvin and Thelma Bradshaw Thompson. Mr. Thompson was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. In his free time, he enjoyed golf and fishing.Surviving is one sister, Linda Thompson Gillie of Columbus, NC; two nephews, Stephen "Craig" Gillie (Kathryn) of Tryon, NC and Chris (Kristy) Gillie of Landrum, SC; one niece, Sharon Green of Columbus, NC.A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. November 29, 2016 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC with Reverend David Bame officiating.The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the funeral chapel.Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, NC with military honors by the Polk County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.
