Obituary
Mill Spring, NC—James Edward "Boots" Shehan, 87, of Mill Spring, NC passed away at home on Friday, December 20, 2024.
Boots was the son of the late Broadus and Anniebell Laughter Shehan. He was born and raised in Polk County, NC. Boots worked for Ivey Electric for over 20 years and in 1996 he went to work with his son at Shehan Grading until his retirement at age 75. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and had previously served as a deacon and was part of the building committee when the new church was built in 1977.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Russell Shehan, Homer Shehan, Kenneth Shehan and Horace Shehan; and one sister, Christine Goode.
Surviving is his wife of 66 years, Barbara Hyder Shehan; a son, Jimmy Shehan and wife Patrica; two grandsons, Jake Shehan and wife Casey and Zach Shehan; four great granddaughters, Callie, Cambree, Carleigh, and Emilee and a sister, Ellen Bates. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Beulah Baptist Church, Tryon, North Carolina with Pastor Todd Fletcher officiating.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
