Mill Spring, N.C. - Dr. Bobby Darrell Jeans, Sr., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 22, 2009. He was 71 years old. Born in Strawberry, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Bytha and Dillard Jeans. He was a Veteran of the U. S. Navy having served in Vietnam. Bobby received a Bachelors Degree in Science from Bob Jones University, a Masters Degree in Education from Georgia Southern University and his Doctrate in Education from Northern Illinois University. He was a trainer in the aircraft industry. He retired from Boeing in 1997. Bobby was saved at the age of twelve. He was an active member of Bible Baptist Church, Landrum, SC where he was a prayer warrior and encourager, visited rest homes with Preacher Tommy until his health wouldn't let him. He even taught his parrot to say "Praise the Lord". A couple of his hobbies were woodcarving and making cards for people. He was a loving husband, devoted Dad to Ricky and Randy and Grandpa to all the foster children. Surviving are his dear wife Ruth Jeans of the home; five children, Barbara Jeans of Arkansas, Beverly Murphy of Alabama, Darrell of SC, Ricky and Heather of SC and Randy of SC; a brother, David Jeans of Arkansas; 3 sisters, Brendene Barkley of Canada, Veneda Hockiday of NC and Ermma Lee Evans of Arkansas. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, 10 foster grandchildren and two special girls, Lisa Taylor of Cherokee and Serena Luksik of IL. Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2009 in the Bible Baptist Church, Landrum, SC with Preacher Tommy Turner officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Tuesday just prior to the service in Bible Baptist Church.
