Obituary

SPARTANBURG -- Born in Lake Toxaway, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Julius Lester Thomas and Amy Dean Thomas. Bill grew up in Spartanburg County and retired from Milliken and Company after 35 years of service where he was a professional truck driver. He later went on to drive for Cross Country Travel and Atchison Transportation. Bill was an avid Atlanta Braves fan, South Carolina Gamecocks fan and loved the Lord. Bill was a faithful member of Westside Baptist Church in Spartanburg.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Maxine Capps Thomas in 2023; his brother, Lester Dean Thomas.

Bill was the last surviving member of his family and will be missed by his extended family and church.

The family will receive friends Friday, September 5, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Westside Baptist Church in Spartanburg with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at the church with Reverend Travis Blackwell officiating.

Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbus.
