Obituary
Bill Robert Ruff, 79, of Mill Spring, NC passed away on December 16, 2023 at Spartanburg Regional Hospital with his daughter by his side.
Born in Polk County, NC, he was the son of the late Howard James Ruff, Sr. and Rose Agetha Norman Ruff. He retired from Michelin Tire Corporation after more than 30 years. Bill enjoyed life and surrounding himself with family and friends. He loved being outdoors and active, especially fishing for largemouth bass and hunting. He was a constant jokester and at any moment he might break out singing a George Jones song. He never met a stranger and if he wasn't talking it was because he was fishing!
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Ruff, sisters Norma Sheehan, Gladys Melton , Rose (Sissy) Foster and brothers Jesse George Ruff, Howard (Sonny) Ruff and Robert (Duck) Ruff .
Surviving is his daughter, Sheila Mitchell (Kyle) of Boiling Springs, SC, and three grandchildren, Isabella, Lloyd (Mitch), and Lily-Ann. Bill is also survived by loving nieces, nephews and life-long friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mill Spring First Baptist Church, PO Box 147, Mill Spring, NC 28756.
A graveside service will be held on December 29, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Mill Spring First Baptist Church Cemetery in Mill Spring, North Carolina. The family will have a box and welcomes guests to bring a note of their favorite memory of Bill.
