– Betty Jo Newman, 83, of Mill Spring passed away, Monday afternoon, March 2, 2020 at Cedar Mountain House in Brevard.Born in Henderson County, she was the daughter of the late Eckels Glenn Greene and Mary Elizabeth Stepp Greene and widow of Clyde C. Newman, Sr. who died in 1988. Mrs. Newman worked many years for Grover Industries in Lynn and later South Carolina Elastic in Landrum. She was a NASCAR fan and loved Elvis Presley.Surviving is one son, Clyde C. Newman, Jr. (Rhonda) of Mill Spring; two grandsons, Alan Newman and Jordan Newman; one sister, Brenda Owenby of Greenwood. Also surviving are two nieces and five nephews.A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 7, 2020 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel with Dr. Chris Osborn officiating.The family will receive friends prior to the service Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral chapel.Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.
