Mill Spring, NC - Bertha Thompson Walker, 87, of 150 Tom Thompson Dr. Mill Spring, NC died, Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at her home.Born in Polk County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Tom and Rosa Belle Mills Thompson. She was a member of the Ladies VFW of Mill Spring, and was a member of Silver Creek Baptist Church. She was the widow of W. W. (Joe) Walker who died in 1991.Surviving include two daughters, Brenda W. Smith (Glen) of Green Creek, NC and Freida W. Gregory (Bill) of Mill Spring, NC; one son, Bruce Walker of Mill Spring; one sister, Ruby DeHart of Asheville, NC. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Chad Gregory Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Friday, October 1, 2010 in Silver Creek Baptist Church, Mill Spring, NC with Dr. Chris Osborn officiating.Burial will be in Silver Creek Baptist Church Cemetery following the service.The family will receive friends from 6:30 - 8:00pm Thursday, September 30, 2010 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC.Mrs. Walker will be placed in the church at 1:30pm on Friday.Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Dr. Columbus, NC 28722.The family will be at the home, 150 Tom Thompson Dr. Mill Spring, NC 28756.
