COLUMBUS, NC -- Belle Werden Miller, 83, died Sunday, September 9th, 2007 at Tryon Estates, Columbus, NC, where she had lived since 2004. She died of a Glioblastoma brain tumor. She was born in Evanston, IL and moved to Philadelphia, PA as a child. She graduated from Penn Hall. She worked for French Line prior to her marriage to Wilson Lear Miller in 1951. She and her family moved to Ormond Beach, FL in 1955. While residing there she was a member of the DAR, Captain James Ormond Chapter and a fifty-year member of the Junior League of Daytona Beach. She served as a board member of the Florida Symphony and the Daytona Beach Museum of Arts and Sciences. She was also a volunteer Pink Lady for over 20 years at Halifax Hospital and for Meals on Wheels in Daytona Beach, FL. She and her late husband Wilson Lear Miller had a vacation home in Highlands, NC since 1980, where she also volunteered at the Highland's Library. Her husband of 33 years, Wilson Lear Miller and two brothers, Donald Werden and Robert Giles Werden, predeceased her. She is survived by one sister, Dr. Virginia Werden, Pocasset, MA, and two daughters, Lee Miller Royen of Lexington, SC and Marsha Miller Moxley of Longwood, FL. She is also survived by four granddaughters, Elizabeth Royen Harrison, Jennifer Wilson Royen, Megan Lynn Moxley, and Ashley Lear Moxley. Services were private.
