Obituary

Beatrice Farnum Cone of Chestnut Street, Tryon, NC, passed away on April 5, 20ll in Hendersonville, NC following a lengthy illness.Born in 1921, the daughter of Royal and Adaline Farnum of Providence, RI. She attended the Wheeler School, Bradford College and Boston College during WWII when she met her first husband, Jimmy Foster, who was killed during that conflict. She and her husband Douglas raised their family in Augusta, GA, where she worked at the Episcopal Day School. Upon her husband's passing, she retired to Tryon, NC where she became active in local theatre and for years volunteered her time at St. Luke's Hospital. Besides her family to which she was so devoted, she always adored her New England heritage. Every summer she and her family returned to Hampton, CT where her parents had retired. Those summers were blissful times. Appropriately now she will be buried next to her husband Douglas in her beloved town of Hampton. She will be missed deeply by her family and friends but we know she will rest there in peace and harmony-a comfort to us all.Surviving are: two sons, Davis of Los Angeles, CA and Douglas (Lee) and his wife Amanda and their two daughters, Arden and Bailey all of Landrum, SC. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Douglas Cone who died in 1989.Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2011 in the Congregational Church, Tryon, NC.Memorials may be made to the Tryon Little Theater, 34 Melrose Ave., Tryon, NC 28782 or to the Congregational Church of Christ, 210 Melrose Ave., Tryon, NC 28782.
