Ashleigh E. WaringColumbus, NC -- Ashleigh E. "Penny" Waring, 62, Columbus, NC passed at Autumn Care in Saluda, NC on Sunday March 26, 2006.Ashleigh was born in Coral Gables, FL on December 17, 1943, the only daughter of the late Earle Waring and Mary Matthew Waring Taylor. In her youth she moved to the family home in Hendersonville, NC and attended school there and Panama Canal Zone. She also attended college at East Carolina University. For many years, Ashleigh worked at the Department of Energy in Washington, DC. Her great love was writing. Numerous published stories in national magazines include a first place finish in an international writing contest in Seventeen Magazine where she won a trip to Paris. "Penny" is survived by one son, Sean Waring of Tryon, NC and cousins Shawn and John Matthew, and Alice and George Martinez of Columbus, NC. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
