Arvilla Settle Smith, 100, of Tryon passed away, Wednesday morning, October 16, 2019 at White Oak Manor of Tryon.Born in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late Keever G. Settle and Rose Turner Settle and widow of John Guynell Smith who passed away in 1996. Mrs. Smith was a member of First Baptist Church of Tryon and retired from Tryon Elementary School as a teacher's aide after 17 years of service.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Charles Smith; three sisters, Aurelia Horne, Ruth Stockton and Rosemary Mills.Surviving are three sons, Benny Smith (Frances) of Tryon, Steve Smith of Cornelis and Kent Smith of Landrum; three daughters, Peggy Smith of Spartanburg, Nancy Ridings (Keith) of Landrum and Lynn Greene of Tryon. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.The family will receive friends Friday prior to the service from 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the funeral chapel.A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 18, 2019 in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus with Dr. Darryl E.
