COLUMBUS, NC -- Arvie Thompson Brown, 89, of Columbus, NC died at her home on Friday, August 13, 2010. Born in Polk County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Henry D. and Johnnie Sue Edwards Thompson.She is survived by one son, James Brown (Virginia) of Boiling Spring, SC; two daughters, Marie Bryan (Dudley) of Gautier, MS and Mary Louise Bradley ( Manuel) Bradley of Tryon, NC; two sisters, Martha Justice (Lester) of East Flat Rock, NC and Daisy Champion of Green Creek, NC. Also surviving are sixteen grandchildren, thirty one great grandchildren, and sixteen great-great grandchildren. She also has twelve nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Brown Jackson; a grandson, Thomas Jackson; a sister, Irene Biggerstaff; a brother, Sonny Thompson and a great grandson, Jonathan.Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 15, 2010 at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery, Mill Spring, NC with Rev. Dennis Jones and Rev. Lewis Jackson officiating.The family will be at the home, 65 Hammett Street, Columbus, NC.Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Drive, Columbus, NC 28722.
