Obituary

Tryon, NC- Arthur Lee Lomax, 59, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 21st, surrounded by his family. He had been hospitalized at Duke University with complications from influenza.Lee was born in High Point, NC in November 1956. His parents were Harold and Pat Martin. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 1979. Subsequently, he married his devoted wife Connie in 1989. He had a successful career with Dell, retiring in 2002 as Vice President of computer sales for the Southeast. He was also a co-founder of Carolina Classical School in Tryon along with his wife and other friends in the community. He served as Headmaster and considered his time there as some of the best years of his life. He later founded and directed PokterTek, Inc. with two of his friends, which became a publicly-traded company until it's sale in 2013.Known for his service and strong faith in God, Lee served as a Deacon at Grace Community Church in Mills River, NC. He also participated on the boards of several civic organizations, including the UNC Board of Visitors. Lee was known for his limitless love of his family, his devotion to his friends, and his generous heart. He was particularly proud of establishing the Lomax Family Foundation with his wife, which supports Christian ministries and a variety of charities. Lee enjoyed traveling the world with his wife, playing golf with his friends and his son, and keeping close tabs on his daughters. He came into this world the same way he went out--a Tar Heel.Lee leaves behind the love of the life, Connie, his children Ashley, Austin, and Rachael, and his faithful dog Andre. He is survived by his brother Jim and his sisters Margaret, Libby, and Jan, and all of their families. He is also survived by his father Harold Martin and several nieces and nephews. Additionally, he is survived by his mother-in-law Billie, his brother-in-law Bill, and his sisters-in-law Cathy and Candi, and their families. Beyond these family members, Lee leaves behind scores of friends and colleagues that he touched and inspired. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.Memorials may be made to Thermal Belt Outreach Ministries, 134 White Drive, Columbus, NC 28722.The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon, NC.Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Tryon United Methodist Church in Tryon, NC.Burial will follow the service at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Landrum, SC.
