Saluda, NC- Arthur Gurley "A.G." Hipp, 73, of Cullipher St., Saluda, NC went to be with the Lord on October 20, 2008 in his home. Born in Henderson County, NC, he was the son of the late Arthur and Jessie Laughter Hipp. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean Conflict. A.G. was the owner and operator of Hipp's Garage and Hipp's Superbirds in Saluda for the past 50 years and was a past member of Saluda Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as chief. A.G. is survived by; his wife, Sharon Gloede Hipp of the home; four sons, George Hipp (Kym) of Saluda, NC, Richard Hipp (Melynda) of Saluda, NC, Nick Hipp (Jennifer) of Fletcher, NC, Brian Hipp (Christy) of Saluda, NC; one daughter, Elizabeth Redden (Ricky) of Fletcher, NC; one sister, Elizabeth Samples of Newton, NC; honorary son, Michael Howard (Kyla) of Saluda, NC. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 23, 2008 in Saluda City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 in McFarland Funeral Chapel.
