Obituary

Arthur Raymond "Ray" Brummett, 79, died June 15, 2012, at Autumn Care. He was a resident of Saluda. Born in Washington, D.C., he was preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Mary Belle Brummett, three older brothers, and an older sister. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Andre Little Brummett; daughter Amy Victoria Brummett Hoskinson and her husband Robert of Sarasota, Fla; sister-in-law Suzanne Little Haskell and her husband Caswell of Saluda; brother-in-law William MacNab Little of Syracuse, N.Y.; and a niece and nephew. Ray served in the U.S. Marine Corps, 1st Marine Division, and fought in the Korean War; he was a survivor of the battle at the Chosin Reservoir. After attending American University, he joined the National Association of Securities Dealers (now FINRA) in Washington as a compliance examiner of broker-dealer securities firms. When he retired from the NASD in 1990 he was the Director of Video Production. He and Mary lived for 7 years in Punta Gorda, Fla. and then relocated to Saluda, where Ray designed and lovingly tended his large flower garden. He was a member of the American Legion and the Blue Ridge Detachment of the Marine Corps League. Ray's family would like to thank the Autumn Care nursing staff and the Hospice of the Carolina Foothills for their sensitive and loving care. At his request, services will be private. The Rev. Paula Morton of the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration in Saluda will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
