Archie A. Pearson died peacefully on August 17, 2011 at Tryon Estates, Columbus. After serving 3 years as a Special Agent in the FBI and 24 years as an executive with the Ford Motor Company, he and his wife, M. Marie, moved to Tryon in 1970. For over 40 years they have been members of the First Baptist Church of Tryon and during that time he served in numerous capacities there.Before it was incorporated into the city system, he was actively involved in the operation of Mountain Water (a system which provided water to about 25 homes). One of his life-long hobbies was woodworking, especially making furniture for his home and loved ones. In 2001, he and his wife moved from their home in Tryonto Tryon Estates. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, their son Michael anddaughter-in-law Julie of Wayne, Pennsylvania, and granddaughter Catherine of Washington, D.C. A Memorial Service will be held at Tryon Estates, Columbus, NC Saturday, October 8 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be given in his memory to either the First Baptist Church of Tryon, 125 Pacolet Street, Tryon, NC 28782 or Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Drive, Columbus, NC 28722.
