TRYON, NC -- Anthony "Tony" Denis Grogan 64, of Tryon, NC died Friday, October 31, 2008 in St. Luke's Hospital in Columbus, NC.Born in Ireland, he was the son of the late Denis Owen and Roma Grogan. He was a veteran having served in the US Army and the US Air Force. Mr. Grogan moved to Tryon in 1996 having come from Taylors, SC. He was a member of Taylors First Baptist Church and was also a member of the Polk County Gun Club.Surviving include his wife, Pat Nichols Grogan. One son, Shaun Grogan of Clarksville, TN; one daughter, Kim Swayngham of Landrum, SC; one sister Carmel Boston of England. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Amber, Taylor, Shaun Denis, Hunter, Parker, and Tyler.A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon, NC with Dr. Ernest Carswell officiating.The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 prior to the service on Tuesday.Military Rites will be held by the Polk County Memorial Burial Squad.
