Ansel DayColumbus, NC - Ansel Paul Day, 76, formerly of Columbus, NC died Saturday, June 24, 2006 in White Oak Manor Nursing Center, Tryon, NC. Born in Inman, SC, he was the son of the late Leslie L. and Josie Moore Day. He was the husband of the late Ruth Foster Day who died in 2005. A veteran of the US Army he served in the 82nd Airborne and was a retired auto body repairman. Surviving are two daughters, Gail Mills (Jesse) of Columbus, NC and Betty Thomas of Winston-Salem, NC; three sons, Jimmy Day of Lake Bowen, SC, Ricky Day (Anne) of Tryon, NC, and Danny Day (Melinda) of Columbus, NC; one brother, George Day of Tryon, NC; three sisters, Ruth Taylor of Tryon, NC, Clelia Cochran of Green Creek, NC, and Martha Cox of Greenville, SC. Also thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter Sharon Day Arledge and a stepson Michael Wolfe. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Monday in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC with Rev. Matthew Mills officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, NC. Family to receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am prior to the service in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC.
