Mill Spring, NC - Annie Mae Gantt McAbee, 84, formerly of Mill Spring, NC, died Friday, September 22, 2006 at Rutherford Hospital in Rutherfordton, NC after a long period of declining health. Mrs. McAbee entered heaven on her 84th birthday. Born in Cleveland County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Ben T. and Lou Lutz Gantt. She was the widow of Ben T. McAbee who died in 1979. She was a member of Bethlehem Methodist Church and a former employee of Alkahn Woven Labels of Columbus, NC. Surviving are a son, David R. McNeely of Fayetteville, NC; three daughters, Carol (Rodney) Hicks of Lilburn, GA, Linda (Don) Ross of Chesnee, SC and Susie (Norris) Young of Mill Spring, NC; one brother, Ben T. Gantt of Rutherfordton, NC. Also seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a grandson, Phillip McNeely who died in 1989. Graveside services will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, September 24, 2006 in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, NC with Rev. Harold Smisor officiating. Family to receive friends from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm prior to the service on Sunday in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Bethlehem Methodist Church, PO Box 8, Mill Spring, NC 28756. Family will be at the home of a daughter, Susie Young, 138 Firetower Rd., Mill Spring, NC.
