MILL SPRING, NC - Anna Maria Thompson McAbee, 47, of Hicks McAbee Rd., Mill Spring, NC died Sunday, February 18, 2007 in St. Luke's Hospital, Columbus, NC. Born in Rutherford County, NC, she was the daughter of Gladys Ruff Melton of Mill Spring, NC and the late Jimmy Thompson. Mrs. McAbee was a graduate of Polk Central High School class of 1977. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Grover and Annie Thompson and her maternal grandparents, Howard and Rose Ruff. Surviving in addition to her mother is her husband, Dennis J. McAbee; one son, James McAbee of Sylva, NC; two brothers, Tony Thompson of OH and Barry Thompson of MD. Also surviving is her mother-in-law, Alcie McAbee of Mill Spring, NC. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 22, 2007 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC with Rev. Dean Elliott officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, NC. The family will receive friends following the service at the home, 85 Hicks McAbee Rd., Mill Spring, NC.
