HENDERSONVILLE, NC - Anna Mae Burns Cantrell, 59, of Hendersonville, NC died Monday, September 15, 2008 at her home.Born in Polk County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Ina Pace Burns. She was a devoted wife and mother. Mrs. Cantrell was a graduate of Landrum High School in Landrum, SC and was previous employed by Mother Earth News and Times-News in Hendersonville, NC. She was member of Piney Grove Baptist Church in Saluda, NC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William Burns and Melvin Burns.Surviving is her husband, Stanley Cantrell of the home. Four daughters, Cynthia Rivers (David) of Greenville, SC; Teresa Cantrell (Paul Roberts) of Mars Hill, NC; Tammy Howard (Leon) of Prosperity, SC and Christina Oliver (Mike) of Hendersonville, NC. One step-son, Edward Cantrell (Elaine) of Etowah, NC, and one step-daughter, Angela Justus (Rodney) of Mill Spring, NC. One brother, G. L. Burns (Melinda) of Gaffney, SC. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, three special best friends, Cissy Thompson and Eva McCrary, Pam Travis and many other dear friends. A funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 19, 2008 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC with Rev. D. Lewis Staton officiating.The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral chapel.Burial will be in Saluda City Cemetery, Saluda, NC.At other times the family will be at the home of her daughter, Christina Oliver, 110 S. Justice St., Hendersonville, NC.
