Landrum, S.C. - Ann Pugh Spinks, 94, of Lanier Drive, Landrum, SC, died Thursday, October 18, 2007 at her home.Born in Kingstree, SC, she was the daughter of the late Griffith T. and Lila Wayne Epps Pugh. She was a Winthrop College graduate and a public school teacher in Charlotte, NC before her retirement to Landrum in 1975. She was a member of Tryon First Baptist Church where she served as a Deacon and was co-teacher of the Loyalty Sunday School class for many years. She was the widow of Walker Robert Spinks who died in 1959.Upon her retirement she immersed herself in homemade crafts of all kinds, especially ceramics. Much of the joy she received from making her crafts was giving them away. Her handiwork is treasured by many families in the area.She is survived by her three children, John W. Spinks of the home. W. Robert Spinks (Nan) of Midlothian, VA, and Ann G. Spinks of Richmond, VA. Also surviving is a granddaughter. A memorial services will be held at on Monday, October 22, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in Tryon First Baptist Church in Tryon, NC with Dr. Darryl E. Maxwell officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, 130 Forest Glen Drive, Columbus, NC 28722 or to the charity of your choice.
