Obituary

Ann Monaghan, 74 of Mill Spring, NC passed away peacefully on March 25, 2022 of metastatic breast cancer. She was home with her daughter and son-in-law and supported by friends and family all around the world. Mrs. Monaghan was born to James and Annie Tinney in Glasgow, Scotland. She emigrated to the United States at the age of 18 in the footsteps of her sister Margaret. She arrived in Philadelphia in 1965 and took a job in insurance where she met her future husband, Bill Monaghan. She married Bill in 1969 and together they had identical twin daughters, Carmel and Bridget. The Monaghans lived in Ohio and Connecticut before settling in Panama City, Florida in 1994. Mrs. Monaghan worked at Traveler's Insurance Company in Hartford, Connecticut and at A.G. Edwards and Bay Medical Center in Panama City. Mrs. Monaghan was a loving mother, sister, wife and friend. Her favorite activities were reading, listening to music, keeping up with friends and watching many British TV series. She was a natural born adventurer and traveller. Her best trips were visiting her family home in County Donegal, Ireland and her brother Michael in Swaziland Africa. She was also a natural born storyteller who gave great advice. Mrs. Monaghan is survived by her daughter Carmel and her husband Sean Daly of Mill Spring, NC, her sister Margaret and her husband Richard Cullen of Statesville, NC, her son-in-law Richard Ody of Acworth, GA, as well as extended family in the US, Great Britain, Ireland, and Swaziland. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill, her brothers Michael and James, and her daughter Bridget Ody.A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at 1:00 pm officiated by Father Kevin McQuone at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1008 Fortune Avenue Panama City, Florida. Following the mass, Mrs. Monaghan will be interred at Kent Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Panama City with her husband. In lieu of flowers, donations to Catholic Charities Northwest Florida or Mercy Chefs, both instrumental in supporting Bay County after Hurricane Michael, would be greatly appreciated.
