Obituary

TRYON, NC - Ann Rhodes Miller, 90, of Hunting Wood in Tryon, died Wednesday, November 29, 2006 after a period of declining health. A native of Huntingdon, PA, she was the daughter of the late James Otho and Edith Rittenour Rhodes. She was educated at Juniata College, Huntingdon, PA, class of l938. She moved from Chappaqua, NY to Tryon in l978 when she and her husband, Tom, retired. Until recent years, she was active in the Gay Blades Garden Club, played bridge at Red Fox, enjoyed the Great Books Club "The Browsers" and a sewing group. In Chappaqua she was a Brownie Troop Leader, participated in The League of Women Voters, a music group and was an avid gardener. She is survived by two daughters: Katharine Miller of Tryon, NC and Barbara Miller of New York City, NY; a brother, John Rhodes of Huntingdon, PA; two grandchildren, Robyn and Luke Jensen and nieces and nephews Edith Sedey, Tom Rhodes and Barbara Rhodes. Her husband died in 2000 and her son, Steve, died in l991. The family thanks Billy Price and Rosia Corn for their devotion and friendship over many years. At the end of her life, Mrs. Miller was cared for by exceptional people. The family thanks Nancy Byrd, Frances Simpson, Sherry Waters, Vicky Sloboda, Carrie Simpson, Pat Jackson and many others for their loving kindness. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, December 3, 2006 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at her home, 200 Coachman Lane, Tryon, NC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Leprosy Missions, 1 Alm Way, Greenville, SC 29601.
