TRYON, NC -- Allen Shields Durham, 79, of Tryon, NC, died Sunday morning, January 28, 2007 in White Oak Manor, Tryon, NC.Born in Polk County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Devaine and Blandina Arledge Shields. She retired form St. Luke's Hospital as a Nursing Assistant and was a member of the Tryon United Methodist Church.Surviving is one son, Homer B. "Hobie" Durham of Tryon, NC; one daughter, Carole McEntire and husband, Gerald of Green Creek, NC; one sister, Margaret Daigle of Florida. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren, Josh McEntire, Ben McEntire, and Melissa McEntire and a sister-in-law, Hazel Forrester. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Homer Shields, William Sheilds, Dean Shields and John L. Shields and sisters, Marian Thompson, Barbara Gowan and Laura Sue Shields.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2007 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon, NC with Dr. Neil Haynes and Rev. Noel Naff officiating.Burial will be in Tryon City Cemetery.The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills Hospice House, 130 Forest Glen Drive, Columbus, NC 28722 or to Tryon United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O.
