Tryon, NC - Alice Styles Kuykendall, 91, formerly of Scrivens Road, Tryon, NC died Monday, March 10, 2014 in Autumn Care Nursing Center, Saluda, NC. Born in Swain County, NC, she was the daughter of the late John and Rosetta Stevenson Styles. She was the widow of Vestal H. Kuykendall, who died in 2008. She was a resident of Polk County her entire life. Alice worked for several years in the textile industry and later was a caregiver. She was a member of Tryon Second Baptist Church. Survivors include: a daughter, Annie Lee Kuykendall Teague of Woodruff, SC; a son, Ralph Kuykendall (Louella) of Landrum, SC; ten grandchildren; Debbie Bell, Cindy Burns, Betty Giles, Kim Scruggs, Brian Kuykendall, Emily Caserotti, Billy Kuykendall, Dianne Pearson and Kenny & Timmy Teague; 32 great grandchildren, and numerous great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Marvin Dean Kuykendall who died in 1971 and a granddaughter, Rita Fowler. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 12, 2014 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dennis Jones and Rev. Chuck Mullinax officiating. Burial will be in Tryon City Cemetery, Tryon, NC. Family to receive friends from 12:30 pm to 1:45 pm prior to the service in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
