MILL SPRING, NC - Alice Edwards Harris, 87, 51 Fire Tower Rd., Mill Spring, NC passed away Thursday, April 15, 2010 at her home.Born in Polk County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Joe T. and Alice Powell Edwards and widow of L.A. Harris, Jr. who died in 1991. Mrs. Harris was a member of Lebanon United Methodist Church in Mill Spring, NC.Surviving are three sons, Ronnie Harris (Joyce)of Flat Rock, NC, Rick (Deena) Harris of Hendersonville, NC and Keith (Jennifer) Harris of Maryville, TN; four daughters, Gail Crater, Linda Odel, Joette Williams and Cathy Stott (Steve) all of Tryon, NC. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Jerry A. Harris (Judy) who died in 2007.A funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 2010 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, NC with Rev. John Edwards officiating.Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, NC.The family will receive friends prior to the service on Sunday from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.At other times, the family will be at their respective homes.Memorials may be made to Lebanon United Methodist Church, 2330 Big Level Rd., Mill Spring, NC 28756.
