Tryon, N.C. - Alene Owen Sawyer, 92, of Scriven Road, Tryon, NC died Sunday, September 21, 2008 in White Oak Manor Nursing Center, Tryon, NC. Born in Transylvania Co., NC, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Lula Thomas Owen. She was the widow of Albert Sawyer who died in 1972. Mrs. Sawyer was a member of Tryon First Baptist Church, Tryon, NC. Surviving are: a daughter, Jane Morris (Jimmy) of Boiling Springs, NC and a son, Jim Sawyer (Wanna) of Thailand. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2008 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel with Dr. Bill Henderson officiating. Private burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, NC. Family will receive friends immediately following the service in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
