Tryon, NC - Vernon Horne, 87, of Tryon, NC passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Autumn Care of Saluda.Born in Polk Co. he was the son of the late Ladd and Hattie Sims Horne. Vernon was a lifelong resident of Polk County and a member of Mill Creek Church of the Brethren. He served in the military and was stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. Upon return from Germany, he attended Cecil's Business College and became a proprietor of his own company, Horne Realty. Vernon was one of the original members of the Green Creek Ruritan Club.Vernon was preceded in death by two sisters; Mildred Silvers and Margie Horne, and three brothers; Arnold Horne, Homer Horne, and Howard Horne. Vernon is survived by his wife Frances Daves Horne of Tryon, his son, Wayne Albert Horne and his wife Julie of Green Creek; daughter, Cindy Willis of Green Creek, two brothers; Kenneth Horne of Green Creek and Laddie Horne of Inman, SC, a sister; Betty Bailey of Rutherfordton; and four grandchildren: Meghan Mauldin (John), Tyler Horne and Elizabeth Willis all of Green Creek and Caroline Willis of Asheville, and one great grandson; Clayton Mauldin; one son-in-law, Jerry Willis of Rutherfordton, NC.A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Mill Creek Church of the Brethren, Green Creek, NC with Reverend Steven Abe officiating.
