—Aden John Morgan, 19, died on September 17th, 2019. Aden was born on March 2nd, 2000, in Birmingham, Alabama. He was the son of Steven and Laura Morgan; brother to Emma Parsons (husband Noah), Eli Morgan, and Isabella Morgan; and loyal friend to more people than we can name.Aden was an old soul, a philosophical thinker, a lover of nature, and a collector of oddities. He had eclectic taste in music, an infectious spirit, a quirky personality, and an obsessive affection for the family pup, Kip. Known to be fearless, he never met a snake he wouldn't hold, a mountain he wouldn't climb, or an adventure he wouldn't take. After spending his early teen years as a missionary kid in Wexford, Ireland, he returned to the States with his family, graduating from Crossroads Christian School (Moody, AL), and attending both Blue Ridge Community College (near his home in Tryon, NC) and Appalachian State University (Boone, NC), where he was a student. Aden loved each of these places deeply, and his people in them.Aden was both serious and silly, with an ability to ponder profound questions in one moment and to erupt in laughter the next. At six-foot-three, he was at least 6 inches taller than his parents and every sibling, a fact of which he was extremely proud. He lived with passion, imagination and a deep richness to his life. While we don't understand why, Aden ended his own life -- a fact that is both difficult to share and impossible not to share. Of all the descriptors listed above -- including the nature of his death -- none is a more true identifier of who he was then this: the Redeemed and the Beloved of God. Aden knew that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, had come into this world to heal the brokenness and save the lost. While his hope in this world faded away, his hope in the delightful gaze of Jesus upon him did not. He stands in that gaze now. No pain. No tears. No stress. No sorrow. For those who are of Aden's tribe in North Carolina, there will be a visitation in Tryon this Sunday, Sept. 22, from 4:30-6 pm at the Grace Foothills Church Ministry Center (27 S. Trade Street). This will be followed at 6:30 pm by a celebration of Aden and a service of worship of our God in the nearby Tryon Theatre (45 S. Trade Street). For those who are of his tribe in Alabama, there will be a visitation, memorial and service of worship on Saturday, September 28th, at Community Presbyterian Church gym (825 Oak Blvd, Moody, AL.). We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:6-8
