Mill Spring, NC – James Major “Mack” Searcy, 85, of Highway #9, Mill Spring, NC, died Wednesday, August 22, 2012 in Willow Ridge Nursing Home, Rutherfordton, NC.

Born in Polk County, NC, he was the son of the late Thomas Ralph and Viola Lawter Searcy. He was a retired carpenter. Mack was a member of Coopers Gap Baptist Church, Mill Spring, NC.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Christine Gibbs Searcy; a son, Philip Searcy (Janet) and daughter, Betty Searcy Connor both of Forest City, NC; two sisters, Betty Jean Morrow of Mill Spring, NC and Annette Sanders (Ralph) of NC; three half brothers, Oscar Searcy, Charles Searcy, and Billy Ruppert Searcy all of Mill Spring, NC. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren, Ashley Lee, Katrina Searcy and Haley Searcy.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 25, 2012 in the Coopers Gap Baptist Church, Mill Spring, NC with Rev. Don Hollifield and Rev. John T. Godfrey officiating.

Burial will be in the Coopers Gap Baptist Church Cemetery, Mill Spring, NC.

Family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
